INTERVIEW WITH A DIGITAL IMMIGRANT

Through this interview we conducted, we learned that media before was harder but more thrilling and fun. Media today gives us the information we need right away with no thrill unlike before there's waiting and hoping. Today's media is not that bad because it really is very essential but the fun of being with someone is gone. Based on our interviewee, technology is supposed to bring us closer to each other but instead what happens is we're all one screen away.

" How old are you and what year were you born? "

" I' am 38 years old, and was born on 1979 "

" Are you married? "

" yes "

" Do you have any children? "

" yes "

" On the year you were born, how can you describe the form of media during that time? "

" print media, landlines, TV and radio "

" What are the ways you do to contact or communicate with other people? " 

" Landline or payphones, we only had a landline when I was 12"

" Is technology already a trend during that time? "

" yes, advent of computers, digitization, internet, mobile phones "

" As time passes, how would you describe the evolution of media? " 

" World is getting flat "

" Based om experience, which form of media was easier, media during your time or present time?"

" Current time, information right at your fingertips "

" Was it easy for you adjusting to today's media? "

" Yes, I was born at the time digital age is growing as well "

" Does having kids made it easier to cope up with the changes of media? "

" Yes, it helps, because you get forced to adapt to technology or you'll lose contact with your kiddos "

"In your opinion, what is the better way of communicating? Through the use of traditional or new media? " 

" Nothing beats the thrill of waiting for the news to come out, wait for a call, smell the freshly printed and delivered newspaper, waiting for the next series of comic strips to come out but there's also the desire to get in touch right away and know everything under your nose "

" What do you think of technology? Is it a threat to us or not? Why? "

" Current technology is the result of a need that we lack and desire that we wanted back then. It becomes a threat when not used correctly. Anything abused becomes a waste."

" If you are to choose between traditional and new media, which one would you prefer? "

" I prefer the current form but wouldn't want to forget what we had before "

" What would you like to say to today's generation when it comes to the use of different media?"

" Be wise. Not everything that comes out are fresh and real. Learn how to be discernful and be cautious on what you hear and talk about. The quicker the info gets the thinner the substance thus more risky. "
